PPI Semester 1 2026 Welcome Party: Rantau Heist

To start off the current semester, PPI recently held a welcome party for all Indonesian newcomers! Filled with fun games and many people, the welcome party is an event catered to welcome new students and help familiarize them to PPI. They act as sort of ice-breakers to the semester so new students get the chance to make new friends while the event features food, games, and activities to encourage interaction between students. Overall, this is a great way for new students to help make themselves feel more comfortable in a new environment!

This semester’s welcome party is different from our previous ones, with the theme being Rantau Heist! Inspired by the Netflix show Money Heist, the entire event is designed to feel like you’re on a heist mission to get as much money as possible. The games also involve a lot of strategic thinking, enforcing participants to think and work together to win the games. It’s a great way for students to not only have fun, but also improve their teamwork, communication, and strategy.

Although this welcome party is made for new students, even old faces are welcome to join! A lot of our committee members joined this semester’s welcome party to support our hard work, and we even saw familiar faces from last year’s welcome party who were back for more! We welcome everyone who wishes to have fun and support us through this event.

Our first event of the year has been an absolute blast! Considering how the games were designed to feel like a heist, most of them involved numbers and a little bit of risk-taking; but the games were also very diverse and that’s what made them fun. Some of the games involved prediction, memory, and calculation; such as the case in Unlock the Lock Code, where two teams were racing to figure out the code to a padlock. One of the teams solved so fast, it was incredible! Some of the games also involved a significant amount of physical strength. For instance, in the game Money Heist, the team was tasked to split themselves into guards and thieves, where the thieves had to go through the opposing guards who protected a treasure box, while rival thieves did the same against our guards. Agility and perception was important in these games, and a lot of us were tired from running! But if there was one thing that stood out from this event, it’s the availability of the traitor amongst every team. This is something unique to this event, bringing something new compared to previous welcome parties. It also made the participants more wary of their own allies as they played the games, which brought more stakes into each game! Overall, this heist-themed party is another welcome memory for not just the participants, but for PPI as well.

PPI hopes all participants had a wonderful time during the event and looks forward to seeing you again in the next one. Remember to check our instagram for the latest updates and events! We wish everyone a wonderful semester in 2026!
